Aftercare

So you got a tattoo, now what?

Keep your second skin bandage on for 3-5 days following your procedure. After a few hours your bandage may look muddy, this is your body expelling ink, blood and or plasma from your skin, and it is totally normal and healthy for your tattoo!

Only remove your bandage before 3-5 days if:

-You are experiencing irritation or redness around the bandage.

-The seal has broken, either from showering or because of from excessive ink and blood.

(It is not necessary to reapply bandaging)

Removal and After Care

Pull your bandage off gently in the shower, starting with the bottom corner and pull downwards. Once you’ve peeled off your bandage, wash your tattoo with liquid unscented antibacterial soap and warm water. Gently pat your tattoo dry and add a thin layer of unscented and non-petroleum based lotion  (Cetaphil, Lubriderm, Redemption, etc.) wash and lotion your tattoo 2-3 times a day for 1-2 weeks after the bandage comes off.

Things to Avoid

Avoid direct sunlight, hot tubs, saunas, and any swimming for the first two weeks after getting your tattoo. Do not itch, scratch, pick, or peel your tattoo. Flaking and peeling is normal, don’t help it along.

Long term care

Keep your tattoo moisturized and use a high SPF sunscreen anytime you’re in the sun to keep your tattoo looking fresh longer.

Please let me know if you need a touch up once it’s healed!
